On her recent vacation: “I was at a resort, and I thought, I should be loving this—but I wasn’t getting anything done, and that terrified me. When I feel like I’m not accomplishing something, I feel like I failed the day. I guess I missed work.”

On kissing Megan Fox for Jennifer’s Body: “We kissed really well together. We have similar kissing styles! If I watch the scene, it’s actually really sexy… We got it done for the masses, and, sadly, the masses didn’t show up.”

On presenting at the Oscars with Miley Cyrus: “I have all these odd chapters. I do recall that both Miley and I were very nervous. And I also recall being backstage afterward, which was wonderful. At that point, the attention is no longer on you, and you suddenly feel like a princess. The magic of Hollywood hits me at odd, unexpected moments.”

On her fame: “It may be that I’m older, and it may be that social media is everywhere now. I don’t think I was really famous until last year—and I felt like no one paid much attention to what I was doing. That was good. But Les Mis was an international hit, and that changed things. Before, I was a little more anonymous.”

On her beloved dog Finn: “When I landed in Korea recently, there were people holding up pictures of Finn. In the past year, people just learned how to pronounce my last name correctly, but they all know everything about my dog.”

On growing up with famous father Phil Collins: “I never understood the word ‘celebrity.’ It was just part of my everyday.”

On being invited to huge events: “The Met Ball? Being invited to something like that? Incredible! I still think, Why am I on the list? I still feel like a little girl dressing up and getting to go to a pretty party.”

On her future: “One day I would love to be a mom, but right now I’m so excited about my work. I like disappearing for a little while. I always wanted to be someone who could take other people into a world with me. As an actor, I’m able to jump into a story and become someone else for a time. It’s a beautiful journey.”

On her fashion boundaries: “I love pushing the boundaries with fashion. I’m feeling a little bit edgier and sexier.”
